Departures from your valley corner

Reserve a ride to Salt Lake City International Airport for a departure

A reserved ride to Salt Lake City International Airport starts at your own corner of the valley grid and ends on the commercial lane on the ground level, in front of the one terminal. You send the corner, the date and your flight; the office asks one local car company that serves that corner for its written fare and passes your yes back. The company drives, confirms the ride in writing and is the one you pay. Riders pay the office nothing, and the quote is free.

Working back from the departure time

Begin with the time your flight leaves and count backward. First take away the time you like to have inside the terminal before boarding; that part is yours to judge. Then take away the drive. The office measured every corner at a quiet hour, with no traffic: 13 minutes from 200 South and Main Street downtown, 21 minutes from 7800 South and 2700 West in West Jordan, and 29 minutes from 12300 South and 700 East in Draper.

Road miles shape those minutes more than the grid does. Rose Park sits closest to the airport in a straight line, yet its 7.5 road miles go around the rail yards by I-15. From 3rd Avenue and E Street the road runs 8.4 miles and 17 minutes; the page on airport transfer from The Avenues to SLC explains the half-size blocks. Rush-hour minutes were not measured, so add room for traffic, above all on I-15 between 2100 South and 7200 South. Put the pickup time you settle on next to your flight number on the request.

Where a reserved car lets you out

Airport signs send reserved cars to the commercial lane on the ground level, in front of the terminal; the elevated road on top is kept for private cars. Every route in the county ends the same way, on Terminal Drive, toward the airport's front near 710 North and 3910 West on the valley grid. The driver follows those signs, so the place you step out is that lower lane.

From the lane you walk into the one terminal and follow the airport's own signs to concourse A or concourse B. With a single terminal there is no wrong building to reach; inside, airport signs lead up to check-in and on to concourse A or B.

Riders, bags and seats for the request

Car size follows the count. A sedan takes three riders at most and an SUV takes six; an SUV is also the choice for a lot of luggage, even with fewer people. Fares start from $90 for a sedan and $120 for an SUV, per car, each way, in the band up to 8 road miles, and the written fare from the company sets the price.

Gather a few details before you send the request, because the company answers each one in writing, including whether it brings child seats or you bring your own, and whether it can send a vehicle with a ramp or lift:

  • The number of riders in the car
  • How many checked bags come along
  • Child seats: how many, and rear-facing, forward-facing or booster
  • A vehicle with a ramp or lift, if you need one
  • Any extra stops on the way to the terminal

A changed departure time before your ride

If your departure time changes before the ride, send the new time through the form, which takes requests at any hour, or call +1 (801) 363-4718 during phone hours: Monday to Friday 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mountain time. The office passes the change to the car company, and nothing moves until the company confirms the new pickup time in writing.

A change sent while the phone is answered, at least 90 minutes before it closes, gets a written reply within 90 minutes. Anything later gets one within the first hour after the phone next opens. For an early departure, send the change the day before, by 7:30 p.m. on a weekday or 12:30 p.m. on a weekend day. The written fare may add waiting past the time it names. For the way home, the page on airport pickup at SLC for the Salt Lake Valley shows what the flight number on the request does for a pickup after landing.

Ask for a written fare

Send your corner of the valley, the date, your flight number and the pickup time you want. The form takes requests 24/7, and the written fare comes back from one local car company through the office, free and with no obligation.

1 Where and when
Type a grid address such as 1300 E 2100 S and the nearest listed corner shows here with its from-figures.
Rides are arranged from the day after your written reply is due.
Optional; the company confirms the pickup time in its written fare.
Name the kinds in the note: rear-facing, forward-facing or booster.

2 Who the reply goes to
The kinds of child seats, a ramp or lift, a second stop, oversize bags.

Free quote, no obligation. The office asks one car company for its written fare; nothing is held for you until that company confirms the ride after your yes. A request sent while the phone is answered, at least 90 minutes before it closes, gets a written reply within 90 minutes; any other request gets one within the first hour after the phone next opens.
